Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | 10 Great Collections…
The picture of the record collection was once again featured in a post on one of my favorite design blogs. Small pleasures ;)
Dale Dreiling
Tuesday, 22 September 2009

I was looking through old photos and I found these snaps of my friend Dale Dreiling. Dale does amazing mixed media art. This series of portraits of Bill Murray (as various characters) was amazing! Visit Dale’s website here.

Sorry for the lack of material. I have been working and preparing for a two week trip to Vietnam in November.
This Picture Keeps Happening
Tuesday, 25 August 2009

These span years. I’m sure there are more. I’ve been very busy lately so I apologize for the lack of interesting blog posts. Instead you get feet.
Fallen Star 1/5
Monday, 3 August 2009

Another piece from Your Bright Future. A traditional Korean scholar’s house crashes into a US apartment. Fallen Star 1/5 by Do Ho Suh. This piece is massive and amazingly detailed.
Your Bright Future
Saturday, 1 August 2009

Welcome and HappyHappy by Choi Jeong-Hwa out the LACMA. Part of Your Bright Future: 12 Contemporary Artists From Korea. I would definitely recommend checking out this show. It will be at the LACMA until September 20th. You can walk through the strings of plastic containers. It’s fun.
Die Slow Shoot
Saturday, 18 July 2009
I took part in a video shoot for Health earlier this week. I think it’s going to look really good. Luke is going to edit it! The song is called Die Slow and you can listen to it on their myspace. These kids in the last picture were awesome. They stayed super late into the night and were all soaked in fake blood by the end of it.
Friday Night
Thursday, 16 July 2009

My friend Kim (Black Church) is playing tomorrow night at Show Cave in Echo Park. I think she is an all around amazing person so if you have no plans you should check it out.

Samsung commercial featuring James McAvoy and a song by The Mae Shi. Silly advertising – get this phone and chose life ;)

Kim sent me a link to this collection called Sentry about gallery desks in Chelsea. I love the feeling of calm in all the pictures. It’s also pretty funny to see all the tops of peoples heads. Anyone who has been to enough galleries will recognize this scene.
Rainbow Cake
Thursday, 25 June 2009

I attempted a rainbow cake for Caitlin’s birthday and I am so happy with the way it came out. It tasted good, too!
Malibu
Tuesday, 23 June 2009

A beautiful day in Malibu. The water was warm enough to swim (though it was rough). Fried seafood was a perfect end to the day. I love how late it stays light now.
Another Photo, Another Site
Friday, 19 June 2009

This morning I received an email saying that a photo I took (which they found on Flickr) was going to be on a website called Schmap in their guide to LA section. I am representing my old neighborhood of Echo Park. My new neighborhood of Atwater Village didn’t even make the list!
Visit the guide here.
We’re On Apartment Therapy!
Wednesday, 17 June 2009

Apartment Therapy LA is one of my favorite home design blogs. It was one of the first things I put in my Google reader when I started collecting blogs to read. I often get behind because there are so many posts. I was going through the backlog when I spotted a very familiar picture of my new apartment. Since this was taken I made curtains for the window. I’ll post some pictures of things soon. I’d hoped to have the apartment ready by now but life got in the way.

Thursday, 4 June 2009

My girlfriends threw me a lovely tea party for my birthday on Tuesday night.
The Pink and Blue Project
Wednesday, 3 June 2009

I saw these in the San Francisco airport last week. The artist is JeongMee Yoon from South Korea. I thought they were really cool. You can see more pictures on the artist’s website. Girls in pink and boys in blue. The children are adorable.

Farmers Market
Sunday, 31 May 2009

The Atwater Village farmers market is every Sunday from 10am til 2pm. There were beautiful melons, mushrooms and cherries today. These flowers are called Wax Flowers. I love the needle leaves. I made a big bouquet and a little one in a yogurt jar.

Lamb & Lion

A girl made a great video using a Mae Shi song and sent it to the band to use as well. I think she did a really excellent job. This is one of my favorite songs from HLLLYH. Jeff left for a Mae Shi European tour with Abe Vigoda yesterday. We’ve moved into our new place but I have a ton of unpacking to do. I love Atwater Village. It is so peaceful and pretty here. We went for a walk the other night and everything was calm and clean. I feel safer here. There is a Chinese food place that reminds me of the place my dad took my brother and me to every week when we were young. They delivered us a huge feast a few nights ago because the kitchen wasn’t unpacked. They have peking ravioli! I’ll post some pictures when we are a little more settled.
Wishlist
Thursday, 30 April 2009
I’d love to get a set of cora carafes from CB2 for our bedside tables. The glass is also the lid so it keeps the dust out when not in use! They also have these cute beaker glasses that look like plastic cups. I was going to get a set for my brother to go with the glass water bottle carafe I got him last year but they were out of stock. Plus that might have been going too far with the theme. They come in two sizes but I’ve never really understood juice glasses. Too small for me. They are dishwasher safe, too. I’ll be sure to check these out when I go to CB2. That might not be for a while, though. We spent all day packing and moving. A big dent was made but there is a lot left to do. I’m excited.
CB2 opening in LA
Wednesday, 29 April 2009
CB2 is opening a store in Los Angeles tomorrow. I have been a fan of their online offerings for a while now. Once I’m settled in to the new apartment I’m going to go check it out. I love their lamps and other decorative items. Everything looks so fresh. If I were to find one thousand dollars on the way to their store I would buy a dining room table. I’m really into tables made with reclaimed lumber like the one below.
Visit the online store: CB2. The new store is at 8000 W Sunset Blvd. (near Fairfax)
Maria Kristofersson Ceramic Clocks
Tuesday, 28 April 2009
Jan at Poppytalk posted some pictures of these beautiful ceramic clocks by Maria Kristofersson. I would love one of these for my new apartment (alas, not for sale). Jeff & I are moving to Atwater Village this weekend. More details to come.
Please check out Poppytalk to learn more about Maria and see more pictures of her creations:
